About Dominique

Dominique Jennings

Dominique Andre’as Jennings was born July 4th, 1996 as the youngest child of Tyrone and Debbie. He has been described as confident, yet humble, genuine, mild-mannered, full of integrity, adventurous, and having had a great sense of humor. Some even referred to him as a gentle giant with a childlike spirit. Having been raised in the church, Dominique was a God-fearing man with a love for God, family, and friends. The family-oriented nature of his character made him dependable and loyal to everyone. He began his first job as a lifeguard at Schlitterbahn Water Park at 16 years old, where he displayed his care for others. As an adult, he worked for Sprint as a sales representative, strengthening his people skills and customer service abilities. However, his dream was to play basketball, which he did through elementary, high school and beyond.

During the summers, he played basketball as a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) organization. Furthermore, he ran track and played football to diversify his athletic ability, encouraged by his dad. Dedicated to success, Dominique earned a scholarship to play basketball in college and then joined the Kansas City Kansas Community College basketball team, leading to a contract with Jesus Christ Shadow Players of the National Christian Pro-League. It was clear to anyone who knew Dominique that he loved basketball and kept out of trouble; he had never been reprimanded in school or by the courts.

In 2019, a new love had entered Dominique’s life, his daughter. Due to his untimely end, fatherhood was short-lived for Dominique, but in their time together he fully embraced this new responsibility and loved her passionately. Dominique was destined for greatness and cherished by his community and the way in which he loved continues to be an inspiration.

Dominique and his brother had a dream of one day opening a community center and after his departure from this earth his mother, Debbie, picked up the torch which led to establishing the Dominique Experience Foundation. Through this foundation, The Dominique Experience (“The DomE”) Community Center will be brought to Wyandotte County to support the community in the way Dominique hoped for.
